Timothy Pappin and his nephew Ryan Mijal realized one day in 2010 after a night (a long night), when they’d had a “few” Old Fashioned that in a world of instant everything, no one was making a bottled Old Fashioned. They began working on bringing this idea to the public. First, they had to create the perfect “Old Fashioned”. Pappin and Mijal spent two years experimenting with formulas and recipes, whiskey and brandy, bitters, sweet and sour soda, and a few trade secrets Pappin had acquired from his earlier days on both sides of a bar, before arriving at a genuine Wisconsin Old Fashioned. “The final formula came together after six months of three or four Old Fashioned a night. With the recipe in hand they began making batches for their friends and family. Everyone agreed that they had captured the essence of the perfect cocktail. In April 2012, Tim & Ryan, left their “day jobs” behind. Three months later on July 7, 2012 the first batch of Arty’s Old Fashioned was bottled in a building generously described as a “shack.”
They have perfected the formula on bottling the classic Old Fashioned Wisconsin supper club drink that is also making a comeback in hipster bars and 1960s inspired steak houses. They knew there was enough Wisconsin Old Fashioned drinkers to make the drink convenient,” Pappin said. “Instead of having to muddle, slice, carry fruit, having bitters and all that. If somebody was going to a Packer tail gate or camping, they could grab a four pack of Old Fashioned.”
From this very humble beginning Arty’s gained quick and popular acceptance in the Wisconsin area. Tim & Ryan looked at their success and knew that they were on to something and it was time to figure out what was next? “If we could make an amazing Old Fashioned why can’t we make other legendary drinks?” After a couple of high school buddies joined the team, and during one of their many “market research weekends”, Arty’s set out to offer legendary drinks to a much wider audience.
The new Arty’s was born and it was focused to create Premium Handcrafted Micro Distilled Ready-to-Drink Cocktails. Arty’s began with one of the original cocktail the Wisconsin Old Fashioned. From there, Arty’s has a very simple vision, to be the recognized leader in the emerging Micro Distilled Sprit marketplace, by making great classic drinks that you “simply twist, pour, and enjoy.
Arty’s now produces a line of legendry RTD cocktails that includes the hottest cocktail in America - the Moscow Mule along with the Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet, and Whiskey Old Fashioned Sweet & Sour. Several more cocktails are in the work, however, until the taste is just perfect they will not be released to the market place. One thing we want to ensure as we grow is to keep our amazing quality and taste of our cocktails as our number one priority.
